School Policy

School Policies & Guidelines

Clear, transparent policies that ensure a safe, nurturing, and organized learning environment for every child. Our policies balance structure with flexibility, honoring individual needs while maintaining community standards.

Policy

1. Settling In Policy

The settling-in period is crucial for helping new children feel safe, comfortable, and excited about school. We understand that separation from parents can be challenging, so we follow a gradual, gentle approach.

Gradual Transition Process

  • Week 1:Children attend for shorter durations (approximately one hour), focusing on play-based activities like art, music, outdoor play, and sand play. This reduces anxiety and helps them become familiar with the environment.
  • Week 2+:Duration gradually increases based on the child's comfort level. We typically transition to full attendance over approximately two weeks, though some children may need more time.

Parent Support During Settling In

  • Give a confident goodbye — avoid prolonged farewells which increase anxiety
  • Maintain consistency in drop-off times and routines
  • Share child's comfort objects (soft toy, photo) if they help
  • Communicate regularly with teachers about home routines
  • Show enthusiasm about school to reinforce positive feelings
  • Trust that teachers will care for your child with warmth and patience

Policy

2. Drop-Off & Pick-Up Policy

Drop-Off Procedures

  • Drop-off between 9:15-9:30 AM
  • Minimize disruption to classroom routines
  • Inform teachers of any special needs or changes
  • Ensure child uses bathroom before entering classroom
  • Give a brief, confident goodbye

Pick-Up Procedures

  • Pick-up at 12:30 PM (standard) or 4:30 PM (extended)
  • Only authorized escorts can pick up your child
  • Parents/escorts will be asked for ID verification
  • Late pickup incurs additional charges
  • Communicate immediately if there's a delay

Authorized Escorts

Only individuals listed on the admission form as authorized to pick up your child can do so. In case of emergency, contact school immediately with the name of the person who will pick up your child.

We maintain this policy to ensure every child's safety and security.

Policy

4. Uniform & Personal Belongings

School Uniform Policy

  • Children wear school uniforms during weekdays to promote unity and easy identification
  • Uniforms consist of comfortable, movement-friendly clothing suitable for play and learning
  • Uniforms are available at admission and can be ordered through school
  • Special permission may be given for alternate clothing on specific days (e.g., sports day)

Personal Belongings

  • Send extra clothes in the school bag for spills and accidents
  • Label all belongings (clothes, shoes, lunch box) with your child's name
  • Avoid sending expensive toys, jewelry, or electronics from home
  • Children learn to manage simple buttons, zips, and fasteners independently — choose easy-to-manage clothing
  • Send footwear that children can manage independently (no complex laces or straps)
  • Check and collect belongings regularly to prevent items from piling up

Policy

5. Toilet Training Policy

Our Approach

We encourage toilet training and independence while working collaboratively with parents. We support children in learning to use the toilet, wash hands, and manage their hygiene while maintaining their dignity and comfort. Diapers are generally discouraged unless medically necessary or recommended by the child's doctor.

Parent-School Collaboration

  • Inform teachers of the child's current toilet training status at admission
  • Share successful strategies that work at home
  • Maintain consistency between home and school practices
  • Celebrate progress and remain patient during setbacks
  • Regular communication through school diaries about progress
  • Accidents are normal — we handle them matter-of-factly with dignity

Policy

6. Health & Illness Policy

Illness Reporting

  • If your child has fever (>101°F), cough, cold, or any communicable illness, please keep them home
  • Inform school immediately about any illness to alert other parents of potential exposure
  • Children must be fever-free for 24 hours (without fever-reducing medicines) before returning to school
  • Medical certificates are required for extended absences due to illness

Medication Administration

We can administer prescribed medications with written parental instructions and a signed consent form. Please:

  • Provide original medication bottles with child's name, dosage, and timing clearly marked
  • Provide written instructions with exact dosage and timing
  • Sign a medication consent form at school
  • Avoid over-the-counter medications unless prescribed by a doctor

Policy

7. Discipline & Behavior Policy

Our Approach: Positive Discipline

We follow positive discipline based on respect, responsibility, and independence. Children learn through:

  • Clear, consistent boundaries and expectations
  • Gentle guidance and redirection
  • Teacher role modeling of desired behavior
  • Natural consequences that help children understand cause and effect
  • Problem-solving conversations that develop emotional intelligence

We Never Use

  • Harsh punishments or threats
  • Public humiliation or shaming
  • Physical punishment
  • Isolation or time-out as punishment
  • Food deprivation as consequence

11. Home Environment Guidelines

Your home is your child's first classroom. These guidelines help you create an environment that supports the learning happening at school.

Encourage Independence

Give children opportunities to do things themselves — dressing, eating, washing hands, clearing their toys. Start with simple tasks and gradually increase complexity as confidence grows.

Make Household Items Accessible

Keep safe items within reach — child-sized water bottle, step stool, low shelves. This allows children to help themselves and develop independence.

Involve Children in Daily Chores

Let children help with cooking, gardening, cleaning, folding clothes, and other practical life activities. These develop skills, confidence, and responsibility.

Be a Role Model

Children learn by watching you. Model respectful behavior, problem-solving, kindness, and enthusiasm for learning.

Maintain Consistent Routines

Predictable sleep schedules, meal times, and playtime help children feel secure and develop self-regulation.

Reduce Screen Time

Minimize TV, tablets, and phones. Encourage outdoor play, reading, conversations, and hands-on activities instead.

Encourage Reading & Storytelling

Read stories together daily. Let your child choose books, discuss stories, and create your own tales. This builds vocabulary and love of language.

Avoid Alphabet Memorization

Don't push ABC memorization before phonics. Instead, point out letter sounds in everyday words and environmental print.

Create a Positive Learning Environment

Celebrate effort over results, ask curious questions, and approach challenges as opportunities to learn rather than failures.
